Coming from east Bali
Consider Padang Bai from Candidasa, Amed, Sidemen or elsewhere in Karangasem. Compare Kusamba too.
Add the drive to the harbour, waiting time and hotel transfer on Penida when choosing. A nearby departure port won’t always give you the quickest trip.
Passenger boat or vehicle ferry
A passenger fast boat carries people and luggage. A vehicle ferry also loads cars and scooters, so boarding and queues take longer.
For a vehicle ferry, check the sailing and ticket process directly with ASDP or the terminal. Ask your rental company whether the vehicle can leave Bali, and confirm the documents and insurance. Hiring transport on Penida is usually simpler.
Before leaving for the harbour
- Get the exact terminal pin and check-in deadline.
- Check how to buy the ticket, especially with a vehicle.
- Confirm the Penida arrival harbour and arrange pickup.
- Check the marine forecast and operator notices.
- Save your ticket offline and bring water.
Check the current sailing and fare with the operator before leaving.
Arrival and onward transport
With a vehicle, allow time to unload. On foot with bags, book a hotel pickup or driver.
Batununggul is convenient for east-side arrivals. For Crystal Bay, compare a boat arriving around Banjar Nyuh or Toyapakeh.
Keep arrival day light
Check in, eat and visit somewhere nearby. Give a full island tour its own day.
Stay a night in Bali before an international flight. Compare Sanur and the Penida harbours before booking.
