Plan transport first

Book your boat from Sanur, then arrange pickup at the correct Penida harbour. Send your hotel pin and ticket to the driver. Check the harbour name on the ticket rather than assuming every boat lands in the same place.

Choose one outing per day

Three days and two nights, or 3D2N, gives you one full day between arrival and departure. Use it for west sightseeing, east sightseeing, snorkeling or a day near your beach. Stay longer if you want to do more.

Trying to fit the east, west and snorkeling into one day leaves most of your time for driving and rushing. Choose what you want to enjoy most and build the day around it. Our itineraries show what fits each trip length.

Stay near the places you want to enjoy

Compare stay areas before booking. For beach days and sunset, choose somewhere you can walk to the sand. For an early boat, check the drive to your departure harbour.

A hotel name or map pin won’t tell you how easy the walk is. Ask the hotel about the actual route, steps and hills.

Decide these things early

  • Choose your trip length and hotel area.
  • Book a driver or tour for the places you most want to see.
  • Arrange boat tickets and harbour pickup.
  • Leave extra beach days if you want a slower stay.

Keep some room to change plans

Boat times and sea conditions can change. Keep arrival day for check-in and somewhere nearby, and leave another day free if snorkeling is a main reason for your trip.

Before the return boat, choose stops near your departure harbour and keep the driver’s number handy. Bring water and shoes with grip, and take breaks rather than adding another stop when you’re tired.
