The west-coast stops
Most west tours visit three places in this order: Kelingking, then Broken Beach and Angel’s Billabong, then Crystal Bay. Broken Beach and Angel’s Billabong share one car park, so they count as one stop. A driver handles the steep, narrow roads and the parking while you enjoy the views.
A realistic day
Allow 45 to 70 minutes from Banjar Nyuh harbour to Kelingking, then about 20 to 30 minutes on to Broken Beach. Crystal Bay is about 40 minutes back towards the north coast. Add the time at each stop and that’s about 4 to 6 hours from the harbour and back, before lunch. These are planning ranges, not live traffic.
For a day trip from Bali, Nusapenida.org’s July 2026 timetable is a fair model: the 8 am boat from Sanur, Kelingking from about 9:45, Broken Beach around 11, Crystal Bay after midday and the return boat at 4 pm. The last boats to Sanur leave around 5 pm.
If you’re staying on the island, start before 9 am. Day tours from Bali fill the viewpoints from about 11 am to 3 pm.
Choose the Kelingking viewpoint, not the beach path, on a multi-stop day. The path is steep and narrow, and the climb back comes in the heat. If the beach is your priority, plan at least 2 hours for it and drop Crystal Bay.
Stay back from the Broken Beach rim, where visitors have fallen while posing. At Angel’s Billabong, watch from the higher rock: swimming is banned and waves have swept people off the ledge.
Roads on the west side
The roads are paved but steep and narrow in places. Klungkung began resurfacing the 2 km Telaga to Klumpu stretch towards Kelingking and Crystal Bay on 13 July 2026, and the 8 km Sampalan to Toyapakeh road has been under repair since May 2026. Expect work zones and let the driver pick the route.
What a private tour includes
A private driver tour usually covers the car, the driver and petrol, with pickup at your hotel or the harbour. These are normally extra:
- Site tickets: Rp25,000 per adult and Rp15,000 per child aged 4 to 13 at each OGOD site since 1 September 2026. Kelingking, Broken Beach with Angel’s Billabong, and Crystal Bay are all on the list. Paluang isn’t.
- The arrival levy: Rp25,000 per foreign adult, paid once when you reach the island.
- Parking, lunch, drinks and snorkel rental at Crystal Bay.
Our guide to the levy and attraction fees has a worked example. Ask for the pickup point, finish time, stops and total price in writing.
If you’d like Made to arrange it, the West Coast & Crystal Bay Tour follows this order with a partner driver. The West Coast Icons Tour swaps Crystal Bay for Paluang Cliff. Attraction tickets stay separate on both.
Our West Coast & Crystal Bay Tour costs from IDR 200,000/person with 5 people in one car, or IDR 800,000 for 1 person. Prices confirmed on . See group prices and day trip options for the West Coast & Crystal Bay Tour.

Lunch and what to bring
There are warungs at the Broken Beach car park and small beach businesses at Crystal Bay. Lunch often comes late, so carry a snack.
- Bring water, a hat, sunscreen and shoes with grip.
- Carry small cash for parking. Site tickets are cashless, so bring a card or phone that can pay.
- Pack a sarong if you want to enter Pura Paluang.
Starting near Crystal Bay
Staying at Crystal Bay or in Sakti makes the west side easy: drive out to Kelingking early and finish back at the beach. If you stay for sunset, book the driver to wait or stay below the hill. The uphill road from Crystal Bay has no streetlights and is a risky scooter ride after dark.
Day trip or overnight
A day trip works for these three stops, but the return boat sets the pace. Crystal Bay is the last stop, so your time there can be short. Leave for the harbour with time for check-in; don’t trade the boat for one more photo.
With at least one night on the island, the same tour becomes relaxed: an early start, a longer Crystal Bay stop and no boat waiting. Compare a day trip and an overnight stay, or use the one-day west plan if a day is all you have.
