Choose the arrival harbour first
Banjar Nyuh and Toyapakeh are convenient for west-side hotels, Crystal Bay and many snorkeling departures. Buyuk and Sampalan are farther east.
Ask for the exact arrival pin and send it to your hotel or driver. See the harbour guide.
Add the time before and after the crossing
Allow for your Bali drive, check-in, boarding, crossing, collecting bags and reaching your hotel on Penida. A boat advertised as taking 30 minutes still uses much more of your day.
Questions to ask before payment
- Is this fare for my passport category?
- Where do I check in, and how early?
- Which Penida harbour will the boat use?
- What’s the baggage allowance?
- Is boarding assistance available?
- Is a hotel transfer included?
- What happens if the sailing is cancelled or changed?
Which boat time should you choose?
For a day trip, take an early boat and choose one side of Penida. Leave time to get back for check-in.
For a 3D2N stay, an afternoon arrival works well: check in, have dinner and start sightseeing the next morning.
Read the Sanur crossing guide, overnight advice and map.
