Before you go
Getting there and beach conditions
We used the sources below. We haven't recorded an on-site check, so ask locally about current access and facilities.
A remote beach
Puyung is quieter and less developed than Crystal Bay. Getting there means a longer walk, fewer facilities, and a trail that may be hard to follow. Don’t add it to a full sightseeing day.
Confirm the trail locally
Ask your accommodation or a local guide about the trail that morning. Tell someone where you’re going, download an offline map, and return before dark.
Paths may split or become overgrown. Don’t cross gates or private land without permission.
What to carry
Bring water, sun protection, shoes for uneven ground, a charged phone, and a small first-aid kit. Pack as if there will be no shop, toilet, or mobile signal. Take your rubbish home.
Sea and cliff safety
Don’t enter the water just because it looks calm. Remote coves can have strong waves and currents, with no quick rescue nearby. Stay out if you’re unsure.
Keep clear of unstable cliffs and watch the tide and daylight.
Allow a slow day
Visit if you’re staying near Crystal Bay, comfortable walking, and happy to give the trip time. It isn’t a good extra stop before a same-day boat back to Bali.
Have a backup plan
Start with the Crystal Bay guide and ask about the Puyung trail locally. Stay at Crystal Bay if the route or weather looks unsuitable.
